Crysis Demo Hands-On

Posted on: November 5, 2007

As most pc gaming enthusiasts would know the crysis single player demo has been released, for those that dont and havnt played the demo….. well thats why you here right? firstly lets get some basic facts on the page!
Developers: Crytek
Genre: First Person Shooter
Rating: 16+
System Requirements:

 Minimum Requirements:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better

RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)

Video Card:NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better

Video Memory: 256MB of Graphics Memory

Storage:12GB (for complete game only)

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible

Recommended Requirements:
CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better

RAM: 1.5GB

Video Card:NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better

Video Memory: 512MB of Graphics Memory

Storage:12GB (for complete game only)

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible

As you can see the system requirements are very high, crysis pushes the limits of today’s PC technology. Here what i ran the game demo on
OS: Windows Vista
RAM: 2GB DDR 2 Memory
CPU: AMD athlon 4200+ x2
Video Card: Nvidia 7600GT 256MB

I could play it at medium settings with a almost playable frame-rate but i machine struggled!

The Story:
Set in 2020 you are Jake Dunn codenamed: Nomad, you are a united states delta force operative sent in with the rest of your team to a island in the south china sea to apparently “locate and evacuate” excavators working there. This is because the north Korean army has taken over the area and the excavation site, and from the excavation teams last transmission to the united states there is a feeling that something went terribly wrong.

I made a video of the gameplay to show you (this was my first gameplay video so its a bit edgy)

Gameplay:
The gameplay feels alot like FarCry in the demo as you play through an open-ended jungle world. The AI is very realistic, forming into squads, taking cover, knocking objects over to use for cover, using grenades to flush you out and more.
CrysisGameplay1
I just like to take the time to mention that the blur affects are really cool!
CrysisGameplay2
In the game you have a certain edge over your Korean Friends, this is your nano muscle suit, with these suit you access four modes Maximum Armour, Maximum Strength Maximum Speed and Cloak. You can also customize all of your weapons with silencers, Flashlights, Fire modes, tactical enhancements (tranquilisers) and sight modes.
CrysisGameplay3
as you come to the end of the demo (SPOILER) you may find something unexpected!
CrysisGameplay4
(“it looks like someone had a little trouble parking their boat”)
CrysisGameplay5
(Suprise!)
CrysisGameplay6
(well we wont be seeing him again)

Overall i cant wait for the full game of crysis even if my computer struggles to run it at the higher settings becuase its gameplay and compelling storyline will keep me playing, we just have to hope that the rest of the game is just as good as the demo.

thanks for reading and take a look at my  website for updates on my latest posts
